Ridgefield Washington is truly a little corner of paradise. With breathtaking scenery including rivers, waterfalls and vast forestry, Ridgefield serves as the key entry point to the Columbia River and is also home to the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. In 1806, Lewis & Clark found this prosperous little village of the Cathlapotle People. Following the Civil War, the town quickly built up and by 1900, nearly 100 years later, the town of Ridgefield was incorporated.

Ridgefield enjoys the mild climate that is typical to the northwest region of the country. Average highs during the summer months can reach into the 80's, and the winter temperatures stay around the 30's. The Ridgefield area does experience snowfall during the winter months, mostly during the month of January and early February. Residents and tourists alike enjoy the mild climate as there are many trails begging  to be hiked, mountains beckoning to be climbed and of course a golf course waiting to be played on.

The Tri-Mountain Golf Course is an award winning links style course offering various levels of difficulty. This beautiful course is surrounded on 3 sides by Mt. St. Helen, Mt. Adams, Oregon's Mt. Hood. Kayaking is also a popular pastime and Lake River offers wonderful opportunities for the novice or more experienced kayaker.

Ridgefield is a small town with a population of just over 2,100. However, its proximity to Portland, Oregon opens up an entirely new venue just 30 minutes away.

If you are looking for a smaller town to live in and enjoy beautiful scenery year round, Ridgefield is an excellent choice. The recreation options are endless, and being situated just minutes from Portland, Ridgefield is excellent for singles, families or even retirement. Come check out this little corner of paradise!

Newspapers:   You may want to order up The Columbian, which is a paper published from Vancouver and deals mostly with local issues or you could order the Oregonian which covers the Portland-Vancouver metro area.

Library:  The Ridgefield public library is located at 210 N. Main Ave.  Their hours of operation are Tuesday - Wednesday 10:00 am. to 8:00 pm.; Thursday through Saturday 10:00 am. to 5:00 pm.  Their phone number is 360-887-8281.

Ridgefield is a Small town with big Aspirations

Ridgefield is a growing bedroom community with aspirations of becoming something more.

Several upscale subdivisions have just been built amid Ridgefield's rolling green hills and open land.  Horse lovers, in particular, are attracted to the area's available acreage.

City officials want the town to be more than home to Portland and Vancouver workers.  They are trying to attract more jobs to the Interstate 5 junction.  Their efforts so far have brought in manufacturers and other businesses, such as a warehouse distribution center for Dollar Tree stores. 

The city is also touting its assets to tourists.

Kayakers can paddle down Lake River to the Columbia, and birdwatchers can get an eyeful at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge.  The refuge is a temporary hoe to migratory birds such as sandhill cranes.

Quite tree-lined streets, small gift shops, a few coffee shops and restaurants make downtown Ridgefield friendly to browsers.

Ridgefield even has some night life.  Seasons Coffee Tea & Remedies hosts jam sessions and open mike nights regularly and the owners occasionally allow their stage to be used for plays.
